*My original post about the cover of this book is at the bottom, after my review. Wow, where do I begin? This was a great ending to a great series. Well I liked most of the ending. BUT I'm a little on the fence about one thing. That one thing had a major impact on my opinion of this book.I hovered my cursor at 5 stars but I couldn't do it, I couldn't give it the full 5 stars, because of this one thing I hovered my cursor to check my "favorites shelf" but couldn't. This is the first book in the s [...]
March? Are you kidding me? Ugh,I want it now! Why? Oh, why? This book was bittersweet. A lot of good and bad people/werewolves died. There were some things which bothered me, especially those about Talbot. I really wanted them to go differently.
I was asked to do an official blurb for this book so here it is!THE SAVAGE GRACE is the action-filled race-to-the-finish last book of the Dark Divine series. The twists and turns in the plot fueled an adrenalin rush that propelled me forward until I reached the tenderly romantic and emotionally gripping conclusion.
I love this book. I freaking love it!Warning: This review contains spoilers.Grace kills it! She is a superhero! She is the Divine One. Powerful and determined and strong-willed and at the same time helpful and soft and a healer. After Daniel's transformation she is searching for a way to turn him back into a human because she feels that the Daniel she loves is slowly disappearing. She actually finds a way. Grace was always a fighter but in this book is turns into a real superwoman. She is amazin [...]
I am really looking forward to the release of this final book in the Dark Divine series by Bree Despain. Release date is Dec 27, 2011. Book 2 left us really dangling, and I can't wait to see how it all wraps up.
OK, WTF?! Half the point of the entire series is Grace trying to save her brother. And she doesn’t. He dies. I don’t care what the circumstances of his death were, it just made everything I read in all three books previous to this moment completely pointless. If you are going to write books about some epic quest, DON’T END IT ON A FAIL! I read these books because I enjoy being inspired. And getting to smile. And to feel like all is right in the world. If I want to be depressed I can do rea [...]
This was my favorite out of the whole series, and I was glad it was a long read in fact it could have even been longer I wouldn't have minded. I was that caught up in the story and the emotions of the characters. Mrs. Despain writes these amazing characters that you really feel, whether it's their joy or their pain and it is intense with all those big werewolf emotions are concerned lol. This story did make me laugh out loud and cry which I was a little surprised by. This story is full of action [...]
Well, where to start?READ THE DARN BOOKS OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!!!! *ahem* Excuse me, I don't know what came over me.It is amazing. The books, starting from The Dark Divine to The Lost Saint and now ending with The Savage Grace, just got better and better throughout. No boring time wasting plots; no characters that are unrealistic personality wise (I say that as I'm pretty sure that werewolves and Ahks etc are difficult to come by.); and basically, no dull moments. Not only do we have probably on [...]
Totally fake cover.Edit: And now that I know it's not, I'm totally pissed.
**May contain spoilers!**The Savage Grace by Bree Despain is the final chapter of The Dark Divine series, which follows the spiritual and paranormal journey of Grace Divine and her family and friends. What drew me to this series initially was the Christian element in the books. It is very, very rare that you find a young adult book that deals with the subject in a way that is not poking fun or being flat out disrespectful. I remember reading through half of the first book and immediately texting [...]
This is one of those guilty pleasure young adult books, written by a local author. But by reading this book I'm supporting a local author and thus helping our local economy, I'm supporting mom-trepenuers, and having a little me-reading-time altogether. So I'm totally justified. This was the 3rd installment of The Dark Divine trilogy. I really enjoyed the first book and read it as a breath of fresh air in the YA fantasy genre. The second book, The Lost Saint, I really had a hard time reading becau [...]
This is a review of the entire series, not just this third book.First, I have a confession to make: I'm not much of a reader of paranormal romance. There. I've said it. Phew! But perhaps I should take another lookOkay. Short Review. Here it goes: I LOVED all three of the books! There, now that you know my bias, here's my reasoning.Faith: It was refreshing to see a Christian protagonist and family in an honest light. While there were a couple of odd moments for me in the first book - mostly wanti [...]
Originally posted at yAdult ReviewAre you shocked that I’m still reading this series? Yes, I am, too. After the two books, I had to continue on. It’s like the Twilight series. I didn’t care about Breaking Dawn but I came that far. I had to know how it ended. This book picks up very quickly after the end of the second book, which is nice for continuation, but the more I think about it the more it makes me realize how much Despain packed into three books. In the third and final book, Grace is [...]
Well I have waited for the final book in the Dark Divine Novel Trilogy, The Savage Grace, for quite sometime now! I have loved Bree Despain's writing and I have enjoyed this series so much. I have a thing for werewolves, and the Dark Divine series has been so fun to read. I wasn't sure if The Savage Grace was going to be good as the last two, just because it is so hard for me to keep reading about the same story. I found that The Savage Grace wasn't as good for me as the first two. It was pretty [...]
I absolutely loved this book. I mean Brent died and Jude died and Brent’s death was uncalled for. He could have survived dammit! Did Despain just have to add to the casualties of the war or the ceremony as they called it?This book was a 4 star for me. The only thing irking me is that Talbot’s still alive and that Caleb died so easily and that Daniel didn’t kill him. I also feel bad for April but I feel good for so many other things. This book was a closure to a really great series.Grace so [...]
---Before reading--- 1: I LOVE THE NAME!!!2: This had better be better than The Lost Saint.3: I'M EXCITED!!----After reading----Oh gosh. Could this ending be any more perfect? Although I wasn't too thrilled with the second book in this trilogy, this is the best finale ever! It had everything I wanted and more. The only thing that really bugged me was that in the second half, there were a bunch of grammar mistakes. But besides that, I'm absolutely satisfied. Although there are things that are bit [...]
This was a great end to the series. If you liked the first 2 books then you will obviously want to read this too. If you haven't read those no sense in reading a review for book 3 and anything I will say will just be a spoiler. Content: language, violence and making out
WHAT a perfect ending!!!
The whole death dogs, Shadow Kings, and lost boys thing was really juvenile. I’m surprised the author couldn’t come up with names that were fear-inspiring or at least mature. These little names were something I’d expect from a children’s book, and they just inspire scorn. And Grace called her mom and dad mommy and daddy, and I just lost it. She is so immature it’s not even funny.Grace was still as unlikable as in the last book. She was cussing in front of her dad and Gabriel, and I don [...]
I got to say the first two books were really good and this book had a great plot and all, but I wasn’t as interested in reading this book. The beginning of this book was pretty good and had me interested in it, but the middle seemed pretty boring and not really what I want to read about. Sometimes the author wrote stuff which i though was repeated a lot or nobody would really care about. Though in the end, it was a good conclusion and the villain was kind of a surprise and not at the same time [...]
I received this book first from winning it from Bree's blog, and then I received it again from Random house. I put off reviewing this until the release date was a little closer, and I had some time to think over the events of the book. This is one of my all time favorite trilogies, and I wanted to give it a fair review. There were a lot of things I really like about this book that made it quite different from other YA books, but there were also a bunch of things I didn't like and made this book [...]
I am so glad I waited and read all three books together. I think that I may not have remembered some of the stuff it I’d had to wait a year between books.Firstly I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Bree Despain for actually putting in a really great fight scene and not being afraid to kill off major characters. I know that some of the other series I have read recently have done this to a certain degree but to kill off Jude was just a brave thing to do. But the way she did it was just awesom [...]
I enjoyed The Dark Divine trilogy. It’s nice when a series ends and it feels like each book serves a purpose and leaves you craving more rather than overstaying its welcome. The characters show growth throughout the books, and there is a good mix of romance, suspense and paranormal intrigue, along with spiritual themes. The final installment The Savage Grace is action packed and bittersweet, and delivers an emotional punch. The conclusion gives some closure to the werewolf curse storyline whil [...]
The Savage Grace was an AMAZING book and I absolutely loved it. Daniel and Grace have got to be one of the cutest couples EVER. I think Grace is actually a really amazing character because she actually does things and acts like a leader unlike some people who sit around and complain about how they don’t want to be the Mocking Jay (I think we all know who I am talk about – not that I have anything against her personally :D)Let me just tell you some of the things that made me fall in love with [...]
What happened to the gorgeous covers of the first 2?! Don't get me wrong; it's a "nice" cover but there is some awkwardness to the image. And why the hands when the first 2 didn't? And that darkish coral-colored dress? Okay, maybe it's a bit more vibrant than actual coral, butill. But aside from the 1 or 2 annoying references to CORAL, the Dark Divine has captured my heart. I need to ride up to the top of a skyscraper and confess my adoration.ough no one would probably hear me from the top so I g [...]
Man, I was really hoping this book would have made the second one worth it. I actually have to go back and write about that one now, because I left it alone out of deference to this first book which I really enjoyed. This book was just so hard to get through. I'm going to have spoilers so if you read on, on your own head be it. So, things I liked:-Daniel was only stuck as a wolf for like this first quarter, maybe third of the book. I was so scared it was going to be like the whole book and I'd h [...]
Wow umm Despain really has made this trilogy my favourite series so far. After the Lost Saint's cliffhanger, i was frantically trying to turn the last page to see if there was more That was back in 2011 but 4 days ago i remembered that the Savage Grace was now out so i ordered it of course.Without giving any of the book away (however predictable it is) i'll just say READ IT!! I admit the beginning was slow but i was happy that the whole book wasn't about bringing Daniel back from his wolf form. [...]
*** Spoilers ***I read the third and final book and was not too happy with this one either. My patience finally snapped when it came to Grace's mother, really. She was a horrible mother. The author wanted us to feel sorry for her but I couldn't. Meredith Divine has the four children, four. And, yes, it is upsetting that one out of your four children ran awayBUTWhat about your other three children? She has a son barely three-years-old.How does she abandon or sacrifice three of her children for one th [...]
This is the end to the Dark Divine and I can only say that it's a shame I didn't like it better. It was okay. I liked it alright, but I found myself not liking it as much as the first two books. Grace is just.ying. She spends a lot of her time hitting Talbot, yelling at a lot of people, whining about Daniel, avoiding/resenting Jude, and ignoring a lot of important people - like her family and friends. She just spends a lot of time being mad. They addressed this later on, and she completely ackno [...]
